A (Few) Notes from the Editor
Happy summer! It's official. The calendar says so, the weather says so, and the new crop of still-excited residents wandering through the hospital say so too. So let's sing it like Olaf the snowman "It's summer!" And, for those 93.5% of visitors to this site who currently reside in the USA, Happy Independence Day!
It's hard to believe it's been three months since we switched over to a blog format for TSHS news. At this point we officially have 22 followers and have had over 500 visits. Woo-hoo! As you can tell, I'm loving the data part of blogging as much as the blogging part. Speaking of data, the favorite post is currently "Negotiating using the ASA academic salary survey," with some "#ReadyResources" posts following in a close second.
While we've got the Wix-collected visit data, we would love to have your feedback about what you like or don't like... what you'd like to see more of... or, perhaps things you could do with less of. We want to hear all of that so this blog can be a valuable resource for you. Drop me an email or leave a note in the comment box below. "Easy-peasy," as my kids say.
We are also inviting members who would like to try their hand at blogging to reach out and go for it. Guests posts are always welcomed! We just ask that the topic aligns with one of the objectives of our section.
Finally, as a sneak peek of things to come this summer, there will be plenty of JSM2018 talk on the blog. If you're not making the journey to Vancouver to battle it out for a hotel room (or for the top bunk at the hostel like I will be), we welcome you to just ride along vicariously through the blog. But, I'm also going to try something new this summer and I will be inviting you to follow along with me as I prepare a data submission to the TSHS data portal. I've loved using the portal datasets in my classroom so it's about time I give back. Anyway, it just seems like a good summer project.
Looking forward to hearing from you soon. If you will be in Vancouver, please come find me and say "Hi!"
