Volunteers needed for Statistical Education/History booth during JSM

Hello TSHS members!

For those of you attending JSM, we are looking for volunteers to staff a booth of tables for multiple Sections and Interest Groups that will be located together in the same area. This year, the staffing of the booth is a joint effort of the Section on Statistical Education, the Section on the Teaching of Statistics in the Health Sciences, the interest group on History of Statistics and the interest group on Business Analytics/Statistics Education. The four tables will be located together somewhere near the JSM Registration Area in the Convention Centre. There will be handouts and other information related to statistics education and other activities of each of the groups at the tables.

Information booth from JSM2017

Volunteering is a great way to get to know other people and to learn more about ASA activities in statistics education and history of statistics. No prior experience or background is needed for volunteers. Volunteers are not expected to have knowledge of all of the four areas. Volunteers need not be a member of any of the groups.

Three volunteers are needed for each 2-hour time slot (or 1.5 hour time slots over the lunch breaks).

To volunteer, please go to www.volunteersignup.org/ABT4L and click on one of the time periods that still has openings (i.e., number needed >0). There are still many slots available.

You will then be asked to fill in your name and email address. Only your name will appear on the webpage. The email will only be seen by us. There will also be a request for a phone number. If you do not want to give us your telephone number, put in (555) 555-1212 as your telephone number. If you want to volunteer for more than 1 time slot, repeat the process. If possible, please sign up by July 26. Signing up after July 26 is fine, if necessary.

We appreciate your work to enhance statistics education.

Further instructions will be sent to volunteers around July 20 for those signed up by then. For those who sign up after that, they will be sent shortly after you sign up. If you have any questions, please contact Carol Blumberg at cblumberg@gmail.com.

Thank you!
