Summer News: Message from the Chair

Summer is upon us and I hope that you had an opportunity to finish scoring assignments, submit final grades and relax for a little while before jumping into any summer classes or household projects. The spring and early summer have been a busy time for the TSHS Section, as we have organized a great schedule of events for JSM. We hope to see you at our many activities in Vancouver!

The TSHS Section is the primary sponsor for 2 invited sessions, 3 topic contributed sessions, 1 contributed session, and 3 roundtable discussions at the Vancouver meeting. Many thanks are due to Kendra Schmid and Jacqui Milton (Program Chairs for 2018 and 2019, respectively) for organizing these events. If you plan to attend a roundtable discussion, please register online before July 1. This will allow us to get an accurate headcount in advance of the meeting and prepare accordingly. In between sessions, please stop by the education booth to meet representatives from the TSHS and Statistical Education Sections.

Be sure to mark your calendars and join us on Monday, July 30 from 6:00-8:00 for our annual open mixer and business meeting. It will be held in the Conference Center, room East 7. Enjoy hors d’oeuvres and wine in a relaxed setting and take the opportunity to meet fellow educators and the section’s officers. You need not be a member to attend, so members, friends, and colleagues are welcome. Be sure to bring a business card to be entered into our annual raffle!

In addition, we extend a heartfelt thank-you to the Stata Corporation (College Station, TX) for their generous contribution to the Section. The generosity of both Stata and R Studio allow us to provide such a great mixer experience. We hope to see you there!
